My Photography New Year Resolutions for 2011

So I won't make this list too incredibly long, or expensive...because it needs to be accomplish-able!

My Photography New Years Resolutions for 2011 go as follows!
(in no specific order...but than again, maybe they are...it's whatever comes to mind first so it may be by importance!

-Purchase External Flash, Reflector, Hot Shoe, and Pocketwizard!)

(these purchases aren't too pricey so this should be an easy accomplishment...and a very important one!)

-Invest in a new camera
(yes I have a few specifics in mind...yes they are in the $,$$$ dollar range, but well worth the purchase)

-Decide which editing program I prefer to stick with

(Corel? Photoshop? Both have their perks...but one is definitely easier than the other!)

-BOOK MORE CLIENTS!
(word of mouth would be helpful!! ;)

-Complete page of headshots to send off
(tweak, edit, and take in advice my awesome Uncle gave me)

-Master my film camera
(Little by little I am figuring out how to shoot the photo on the best settings it can be on. That's the sacrifice you have to make w/ film though...you shoot, develop and learn)

-Redo my website
(When I made my current website, it was kind of spur of the moment; since then, I have discovered an even better website domain...woohoo!)

-Change up my logo a bit

(yes KIMAGES will stay..but maybe change up the font...add a little something extra)

-Decide and settle on a way for clients to view proofs
(disc or website...I have a few ideas up my sleeve)

-Create client proofing document check-list
(eh...I'll pass on explaining  this one....this is more so for weddings)

-Speaking of weddings, SHOOT A WEDDING!

(People get married everyday...well mostly every weekend...C'mon, I don't charge an arm and a leg and your photos WILL turn out FAN-DIDDLY-TASTIC)

-Discover new outdoor shooting locations

(I don't mind the drive if it's worth the shot!)

-Buy & Create props!

(Too many times I have passed up bargain items I thought would look awesome in a photo...! And there's lots you can buy to make your own!)

-IMPROVE MY CREATIVITY

(poses, style, props, location, editing....these are all key factors!!)

That's all I can think of for now...who knows, as I cross one of these off my list, I could add another...

Happy New Year everyone, enjoy it!
Love,
Kimmy

Special Gifts

About a week ago or so, I had the awesome pleasure of photographing Chelsea & her brother Cody. I absolutely love how they turned out! She wanted a few to give to her mother as a Christmas gift. She wasn't kidding when she said her mother would cry when opening her framed treasures! Knowing that made me feel so honored and glad I could capture a moment so special. That's the best gift you can give!! These are some of the many lovely photos taken. Chelsea was a trooper in the cold and wind on the beach! Especially with creepers cruising by...even on the west end!

Digi vs. Film

I don't think one is better than the other. There's a time and place for both!
Here's a few I've taken lately...(except the one of me obviously...haha, taken by K. Groce!)

Furry Friends...

So someone asked me the other day if I photographed pets. Answer: I SURE DO!
I've only done a few but I figure if I've done my dog...I've done them all. Well, she's not THAT crazy....but definitely hard to keep still if she's not tired. She really is sweet, but if you don't live in HER home...she'll most likely bark and bully you when you come over for about 5 min. haha. Here's a photo I snapped real quick of her the other day in front of our tree. The gifts you see are all wrapped by me! I'm done shopping for the most part. Feels good to check that off my list.

Let me know if you know anyone looking for a photographer of any sorts! From newborns to puppies!

Thanks!

The Beautiful Linda Escamilla...

So for the past week, I did a few head shot sessions for those of you who volunteered first! I will soon be sending off a page of head shots to a talent agency to help me get more clients! I had the opportunity to photograph Linda Escamilla. She was a great candidate, very photogenic! Here's a few favorites:

Let's see here...

So I figured I might as well create one of these bad boys as I'm slowly but surely becoming all I can be as a Professional Photographer. It's been going well! There's not a doubt in my mind that I won't be doing this for the rest of my life. I'm looking forward to the day where I can solely rely on this as my income! I guess that's where this blog comes into play, hopefully it'll help me out w/ clients and you can too! On we go!
